Ditch That Pen & Paper
by Matthew
I love applications that simply life but who doesn't? While you'll almost never see me without my phone and Internet Tablet these days, I frequently lack a pen for that uber-quick note. Here to the rescue is Xournal. This awesome application is the digital equivalent of the tried and true pen and paper. There is no learning curve here and so simple to use any one could easily draw a simple map (why aren't you using Maps?), write their name and phone number or anything else that comes to mind. Even better you can draw in color and even highlight written or typed text. I'd wager even my kids will love this one for practicing writing their letters, numbersand doodling. Diablo earlier adopters fear not, it works well here as well although still in the chinook repository. This little tool truly has features to spare, like new pages, layers, loading backgrounds, screenshots and PDF lovers will love Xournal's for its ability to not only annotate PDFs but export to them. Users can even select paper sizes, with four defaults and the ability to make custom sizes, if the mood should strike. The only thing missing is the ability to minimize to the status bar, maybe in the next release.

looks like a great application.
does it convert your text into computer text so you can paste into a blog or email? this would be perfect.

@Mike Xournal doesn't provide any OCR capabilities but I'm sure there are many applications on your PC that could handle such a task nicely.
