TiVo Desktop 2.3 Adds Compatibility For Nokia N80
by Darla
I received an email about an interesting article by Gizmodo. This sounds like excellent news for TiVo/Nokia N80 users. Whats the news? Glad you asked:
Upgrade the free version of TiVo Desktop to TiVo Desktop Plus and automatically convert your TiVoToGo transfers for iPod, PSP, Treo, Nokia, and other portable devices that support MPEG-4 or H.264 video.

As you can see in the list the N80 is supported. Now since I don't have either an N80 or TiVo I'd be curious to know if and how this works and would appreciate shared experiences in the comment section.
The price for the upgrade is $24.95. TiVo Desktop 2.3 provides conversion capabilities for your iPod, PSP, and cellphones such as the Treo 650 and Nokia N80 and other MPEG-4 capable devices. Gizmodo also mentions other third-party programs such as Videora which happens to be free but if it were me I'd go this route.

The new TiVo Desktop works quite well. I specially like the auto show subscription features, the automatically transfers specific shows to your desktop for you. The conversion for your portable devices is quite easy and painless. It makes it very easy to do in one package. However if you want to save the $24.95 you can use DirectShowDump to convert to Mpeg and from there use Nokia's own software or other video editing software to scale it down.
