New Symbian Virus on the Loose - SymbOS.RommWar.A

by Darla

Symantec announced today the presence of a new trojan attacking Symbian devices.

SymbOS.RommWar.A is a Trojan horse that runs on the Symbian OS. It installs corrupted Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Symbian, which will cause the compromised device to fail at the next restart.

Symantec Security Response is currently investigating this threat and will post more information as it becomes available.

More information can be found on Symantec's Website.

EDIT:  While this threat seems to be nothing to worry about I still feel the need to inform.  If the virus info isn't put out there, then people wouldn't know what to look for.  I'm sure by now you know my opinion on virus info and threats and how protecting your phone includes not  installing cracked or pirated software... but I'm sure you are all adults.  That risk is yours.  No I don't believe in the "Hype" but there are still people out there that can fall innocent to malware.

Lol, thanks Steve for the wake up blow... wish it came with coffee.
